Mondilla searches for last year’s form
Clyde Mondilla will be cramming in the next three weeks to get his game back to where it was last year as he defends his Philippine Masters crown against the country’s finest and a crack foreign field.
After winning the Order of Merit title last year, highlighted by his scintillating Masters triumph, Mondilla’s game has been in shambles early this season.
Article continues after this advertisementHe missed the cut in the last two Philippine Golf Tour events, and with mediocre finishes in two others, Mondilla has gone back to his usual punishing routine to prepare for the event that tees off May 23 at tough-as-nails Villamor in Pasay.
“I’m going to practice more and get back in shape,” said Mondilla, whose victory in the P2-million event last year undoubtedly is one of the highest points of his young pro career. “I need to polish my putting a lot.”
The Masters was revived last season after a long absence and has attracted participation of a lot of players overseas.
