Filoil: La Salle rolls to fourth straight win with rout of EAC

De La Salle asserted its dominance and decimated Emilio Aguinaldo College, 83-51, in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup Friday at the tournament’s namesake arena.

The Green Archers continued their perfect run and hiked their record to 4-0 while Generals stayed at the other end with a 0-4 card.

A 29-13 third quarter laid out the foundation for La Salle’s lopsided win as the Green Archers headed into the fourth with a 63-42 lead.

Adding insult to injury, the Green Archers kept their momentum going and outscored the EAC 20-9 in the final 10 minutes.

La Salle went 32-of-71 from the field while clamping down on a confused EAC team and limiting the Generals to a disastrous 22 percent shooting.

“Before entering the game, our preparation was all about respecting our opponents,” said Green Archers head coach Louie Gonzales in Filipino. “If you played with respect, instead of fear, you’d really work hard for everything.”

The Green Archers also bullied the Generals underneath, coming away with a 59-38 rebounding edge.

Kira Samuel put up 28 points and grabbed nine boards in 17 minutes of play while Mark Dyke added 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Ichie Altamirano had nine points to lead the Generals.
