University of Santo Tomas went all out in the third quarter to rip Jose Rizal University, 98-88, in the 2018 Chooks-to-Go Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Renzo Subido captained the Growling Tigers in their breakthrough win, unleashing 24 points on 5-of-9 shooting from three, while also dishing out five assists and three rebounds.

Enrique Caunan nabbed a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Nat Cosejo and Kenneth Zamora took advantage of the extended garbage time to collect 12 points apiece.

Marvin Lee also dded 12 points, four boards, and four assists for UST, while rookie CJ Cansino made his return to the lineup and had for 12.

The Growling Tigers broke the game wide open in the third quarter, where they exploded for 31 points to grab the commanding 76-58 lead before going on cruise control in the payoff period.

UST improved to 2-1 in the summer tournament, while sending JRU to its fourth straight defeat.

Darius Estrella led the Heavy Bombers with 22 points and five rebounds, while Jarvy Ramos got 12 in the loss.
