Review of Donaire contract up

10:20 PM May 19, 2011

MANILA—The stalemate over the contract of WBC/WBO bantamweight champ Nonito Donaire Jr. with Top Rank Promotions will be discussed in a meeting Thursday between Top Rank president Todd Duboef and Donaire’s manager Cameron Dunkin.

Known as the Filipino Flash, Donaire has already lost a chance to unify the title with the cancellation of a fight with WBA champion Anselmo Moreno on May 28.

“Either he (Donaire) fulfills the contract or we continue with this nonsense which is a pity,” Top Rank’s Bob Arum told the Inquirer.

He was referring to Donaire’s signing up with Golden Boy Promotions after claiming that Top Rank was in “breach of contract” for not fulfilling its commitment to give Donaire three fights a year.
