From 19 teams, the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup is down to the final eight as the quarterfinal round gets going this Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

College of St. Benilde, which topped Group B with a 7-1 record, will take on Group A fourth seed University of the Philippines in the opening match at 1 p.m.

The Blazers will have their hands full against the Maroons, who rebounded from three straight losses to win their next six assignments.

In the 2:45 p.m. offering, defending champion and reigning NCAA titlist San Beda University will face Adamson.

The Red Lions’ late charge in the standings saw them pull down the La Salle Archers from the No. 2 spot despite their similar 7-2 records as they defeated the nine-time UAAP men’s champion, 72-70.

La Salle will face UAAP rival Far Eastern University in the 4:30 p.m. match.

The Green Archers have a potent mix of highly experienced veterans and talented newcomers. They will match wits and skill against the veteran-laden Tamaraws team.

In the 7 p.m. nightcap, Ateneo, undefeated in nine games, goes up against dangerous Letran.

The Knights, who finished Group B competition with a 5-3 win-loss slate, have the league’s leading scorer in Bong Quinto, who is averaging 20 points per outing.

The winners meet in the semifinals on Friday while the championship game is slated on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at the gates.
