Brownlee: Whenever we play our game, we can beat everybody
With Ginebra running amuck in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, there’s no doubt that confidence of the league’s crowd darlings is high.
The Gin Kings have been on a tear and their 102-89 win over top seed Rain or Shine in the first game of semifinals gave them their eighth straight victory since the eliminations.
Article continues after this advertisementIn their win over the Elasto Painters, the Gin Kings showed exemplary power in handling their opponents, which is exactly how they wanted it to be.
“That’s the way we want to play, it’s no surprise, and we’ve been playing like that for the past eight games and we’ve been very successful,” said import Justin Brownlee Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ginebra held a small 79-74 lead early in the fourth quarter but the moment Brownlee came in that irrelevant margin became a massive one.
Article continues after this advertisementBrownlee had six points in the Gin Kings’ intoxicating 23-4 run that gave them a commanding 102-78 lead.
“We think whenever we play our game, we can make runs like that, we can come out and beat everybody,” said Brownlee who finished with 35 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists.
The Gin Kings shoot for a 2-0 series lead on Tuesday, also at the Big Dome.
