NCAA: Knights turn back Blazers
Letran improved to solo third after outlasting St. Benilde, 64-60, in the NCAA Season 94 basketball tournament Tuesday at Letran Gym.
The Knights, who were determined to win in their home floor, held the Blazers scoreless in the 3:27 and strung a closing 7-0 run to pick up their third win against a loss.
Article continues after this advertisementLetran continued to take advantage of their size with the frontcourt trio of Larry Muyang, Chris Fajarito, and Jeo Ambohot combining for 22 points and 22 rebounds.
Bong Quinto, meanwhile, paced the Knights with 17 points.
“We just like to take advantage of the strength that we obviously have and we did it again in this game,” said Letran coach Jeff Napa.
Article continues after this advertisementYankie Haruna finished with 13 points for St. Benilde, which dropped to 2-3, while Clement Leutcheu added 10 points, seven boards and five assists in the loss.
