PH Blu Girls lose to Chinese Taipei, but get rematch for bronze

The Philippines bowed to Chinese-Taipei, 3-2, in a match that would’ve assured the team the bronze medal in the softball tournament of the 2018 Asian Games Wednesday night at GBK Softball Field in Jakarta.

The Blu Girls, though, still have a chance at the bronze medal in the page system playoff if they win in their rematch against Chinese-Taipei on Thursday.

Lai Mengting’s ground ball single became Chinese-Taipei’s final hit, allowing its runner to take home base after the Philippines’ first base and second base collided in an attempt to catch the ball.

If the Philippines win on Thursday, it would be the first medal for the country in the softball event of the continental games.
