Scalabrine says he was ‘hammered’ during epic 2008 NBA Finals presser

It’s undeniable that Brian Scalabrine has had one of the most well-loved careers in the NBA.
His greatest on-court achievement is winning the title with Boston in 2008 but he will always be remembered for his off-court antics.
It was also in 2008 that the “White Mamba” delivered one of the most epic post-game press conferences of all time.
And a decade later, Scalabrine said he was “hammered” during the time he bared his plans to rewrite NBA history.
“We win the championship, I go back [to the locker room] and I drink two bottles of champagne and then you end up on the podium and that was not a good recipe,” said Scalabrine during his media availability for NBA 3X on Thursday at NBA Philippines headquarters in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
“I had a great time and I was going to go out and make sure to call out a few people.”
A little bit of backgrounder, a reporter from Europe asked Scalabrine about not playing a single minute during the whole six games of the championship round.
That was when Scalabrine said that time will pass and he will still be an NBA champion and that after 30 years he can claim to his kids that he was the Finals MVP.
And one more thing, the time Scalabrine used to talk during the NBA Finals post-game press conference was originally slotted for Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
“Kobe was supposed to go and I kind of jacked his podium so that was an epic interview,” said Scalabrine, who played for the Celtics from 2005 to 2010. “When I go back and watch it I think that it held up pretty good for me being this hammered.”
