FEU tramples UST, advances to PVL finals

Far Eastern University followed up its Game 2 win with a 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 victory over University of Santo Tomas in their rubber match in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference semifinals Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Tamaraws will face University of the Philippines in the championship round with the Golden Tigresses taking on Adamson University in the bronze medal series.

FEU enjoyed solid outputs from four of its players with Jerrili Malabanan leading the way with 13 points.

Lady Tamaraws head coach George Pascua said his players have slowly moved on from the departure of star Bernadeth Pons who graduated in early 2018 and are starting to rely on themselves.

“I told them that they shouldn’t look for Pons because we can’t change the fact that she’s already a graduate so the players have to help each other,” said Pascua in Filipino.

“They shouldn’t rely on just the veterans or on just three people, what they need to do is work as a team.”

Kyle Negrito and rookie Lycha Ebon had 12 points apiece to help Malabanan while Heather Guino-o added 11 points.

Eya Laure had 15 points to lead the Golden Tigresses while Caitlyn Viray added 11.
