Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei seeks Olympic badminton gold despite cancer
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Former No. 1-ranked Lee Chong Wei says his nose cancer has gone into remission after intensive treatment and he still aims to chase his dream of winning an Olympic gold in badminton.
In his first public appearance since his diagnosis, Lee says health is his top priority but he isn’t ready yet to hang up his racket.
Article continues after this advertisementLee says doctors gave him a clean bill of health after more than two months of intensive treatment in Taiwan. He says he has restarted fitness training and hopes to return to the court next month.
At 36, Lee says he “cannot say 100 percent” that he can make a successful comeback but if it goes well, it will be his “last track.”
