QC sweeps Makati, faces San Juan next

Andoy Estrella exploded for 15 of his 19 points in the payoff period as Quezon City completed a stunning sweep of Makati Super Crunch, 77-74, on Monday night to reach the semifinals of the North division in the MPBL Datu Cup at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Struggling early, the former Mapua guard caught fire when the Capitals needed him most as No. 7 QC eliminated its second-seeded foe, which went undefeated for five months heading into the playoffs.

The Capitals face an uphill climb in the next round as they face the third-seeded San Juan Knights, who also swept No. 6 Navotas Clutch, 75-69, in the second game. —CEDELF P. TUPAS
