Adamson sends UST to brink of elimination, Ateneo upends UP

MANILA, Philippines—Adamson University hit two birds with one stone after turning back University of Santo Tomas in fie sets, 20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-14, 15-9, in the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Soaring Falcons got a share of the third spot with Ateneo after improving to a 7-4 record while the Tiger Spikers dropped to 4-7 and are one game away from falling out of the Final Four race.

Paolo Pablico put up 23 points to lead Adamson while Leo Miranda and George Labang had 17 and 15 points, respectively.

In the other game, the Blue Eagles survived University of the Philippines in five sets, 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22.

Ron Medalla led Ateneo with 21 points while Ishmael Rivera had 15 points.

Chumason Njigha and Gian Glorioso added 14 points apiece for the Blue Eagles with Antony Koyfman pitching in 12.

John Mark Millette had 15 points for the Fighting Maroons who hold a league-worst 1-10 card.
