Pinoy riders Cariño, Lago compete in ITT
GAZALKENT, Uzbekistan —Daniel Ven Cariño and Marc Ryan Lago are hoping the weather holds on Wednesday when they see action in the individual time trial (ITT) of the 2019 Asian Cycling Championships for Road that this country is hosting for the first time.
“I hope the weather stays the same, especially the temperature,” said Cariño, 21, who is racing in the 40-km Men Under-23 individual time trial at 3:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. in Manila) on Wednesday. Lago, 18, will vie in the 30-km Men Junior ITT also on Wednesday but in an earlier race at 1 p.m.
“It’s biting cold,” said team manager Ednalyn Hualda on Monday during the license check and team managers meeting, after temperatures dropped to 10 degrees Celsius.
