MANILA, Philippines—Barangay Ginebra import Justin Brownlee had himself a day not just on the basketball floor, but also outside of it.

Brownlee started off his Sunday paying tribute to his late agent Sheryl Reyes who passed away earlier this month due to cervical cancer. Reyes was 38.

Ginebra’s amiable import wrote the words “RIP Sheryl” and “Agent from hell” on the midsole of his Air Jordan 3s that he wore in the Gin Kings’ 110-95 win over Meralco in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

“She’s very important to me, and it’s very unfortunate what happened,” said Brownlee Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum. “It hurt a lot, she was very important to my life and where I’m at today in my basketball career and outside of it.”

“What she did for me, I can never be thankful enough. I’ll just always show her the proper respect she deserves, I’ll always have memories of her and what she’s done for me.”

Reyes brought in Brownlee to replace Paul Harris in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup and eventually became one of Ginebra’s most iconic imports when he drilled the title winning three-pointer in Game 6 of the finals against Meralco.

Brownlee has since then played for the Gin Kings for the past three seasons and led the franchise to their last three titles.

And he put up 27 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, and four blocks to lead the Gin Kings to their first win of the conference.
