The national women’s volleyball team finally gets to start training for the Southeast Asian Games in the second week of June.

That is after the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. and coaching staff finalized the schedules of the 22 members of the pool, who are playing in Philippine Superliga and Premier Volleyball League club tournaments.

“The main concern for us turned out to be working out through their schedules with their respective team,” said LVPI president Peter Cayco.

The women’s team are composed of club league stars like Alyssa Valdez, Mika Reyes, Aby Maraño, Jaja Santiago, Dindin Manabat and Denden Lazaro.

The team will train three times a week, beginning June 15 at Arellano University Law School gymnasium.

The team will also set up a training camp in China in September, according to Cayco. They are also set to train in Korea just before the SEA Games kicks off in November.

Unlike the women’s squad, the men’s team has already started training for the past two weeks.

“We have seen how the men’s team move and we are confident of how they will perform,” added Cayco.

The volleyball squads are two of the most anticipated teams in the coming Games slated Nov. 30 to Dec. 11.
