Charcos stars as Perpetual Help beats Mapua in NCAA Season 95 debut
MANILA, Philippines—Edgar Charcos took charge in the fourth quarter and University of Perpetual Help escaped Mapua, 80-78, in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Charcos flourished down the stretch as he went on a personal 8-0 run to break a 69-deadlock and give the Altas a 77-69 cushion with 4:10 remaining.
Article continues after this advertisementThe graduating guard scored 11 of his 16 points in the fourth period. He also collected eight rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Tonton Peralta led all scorers with 20 points while Razon chipped in 10 for Perpetual Help.
Laurenz Victoria kept the Cardinals in it with his triple cutting the Altas’ lead down to one, 79-78, with 8.2 seconds to go before Charcos split his charities.
