Jones Cup: Gilas women’s continues search for 1st win
MANILA, Philippines—Gilas Pilipinas women’s team suffered yet another disappointing defeat, losing to South Korea 92-80 in its fourth game in the 2019 William Jones Cup at Xinzhuang Stadium Saturday.
The Philippines dropped to a tournament-worst 0-4 while the Koreans improved to 2-2.
Afril Bernardino had her best game of the tournament with 24 points and four steals while Jack Danielle Animam missed out on a double-double with 13 points and eight boards.
While the Philippines had Bernardino breach the 20-point barrier, the Koreans had three who surpassed it.
Hee Jin Choi led all scorers with 25 points with seven rebounds while Sunyoung Sim had 24 points, eight boards, and seven assists.
Min Jeong Kim added 23 points and three steals for the Koreans.
Gilas will play Taiwan B on Sunday for its final game of the tournament.
