PSL: Cignal gets back at Foton for 6th win

MANILA, Philippines–Cignal found a way to fell Foton’s towering edge, hacking out a 25-23, 21-25, 25-14, 25-21 victory Thursday night in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at FilOil Flying V Center.

Mylene Paat scored 14 points to lead the HD Spikers in exacting revenge over the Tornadoes who dealt them a four-set defeat in the first round.

It was the sixth win in 11 games for Cignal which blunted Foton’s height advantage through teamwork, scoring six kill-blocks in the lopsided third set aside from making four aces inside that frame.

The Tornadoes made a last stand when Dindin Manabat hit back-to-back spikes for 19-all only to see the HD Spikers scoring the next three points to cruise to victory.

Foton absorbed its second loss in a row to fall to 7-5.
