MANILA, Philippines–Norman Montalvo settled for the silver medal after getting outclassed by his Malaysian foe in the male individual kumite event of karatedo in the Southeast Asian Games Saturday at World Trade Center in Pasay.

Montalvo struggled early and was unable to regain his bearings against Prem Selvam, who eventually carved out a 6-1 to win bag the top prize of the 55kg contest.

Montalvo’s feat came just minutes after Junna Tsukii toppled her Vietnamese foe in the gold clash of the women’s 50kg event.
