MANILA, Philippines — Team Lakay has temporarily closed his training facilities in Benguet after the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nothing, however, is stopping the Baguio-based fighters from honing their craft as they spend the extended time off the best way possible.

“Our Team Lakay warriors nonetheless will project to train in closed doors as our pursuit to hold our flag high in combat is consistently calling,” Team Lakay’s statement read.

Former ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang is using the time to still keep himself in shape while spending quality moments with his family at the same time.

“Leg day work out with my kids while under home quarantine. Spending quality time with our family and loved ones is one of the best lessons we can learn during this pandemic times,” Folayang wrote on his Facebook.

Reigning strawweight king Joshua Pacio, meanwhile, went on a trail run to stay fit.

The Filipino martial arts stars have also taken an old school approach with their training, making the most of what they have.

Kevin Belingon, the former bantamweight champion, lifted a filled water gallon container while doing squats while Folayang worked on his footwork by shadowboxing as he stood on a tire.

“Footwork drill on an old tire. Let’s do more with less. Training in isolation is no problem as long as we progress,” Folayang posted on social media.

“Closed gym & no gym equipment?? NO PROBLEMO, just improvise. Taking it easy at the backyard,” Belingon wrote on Instagram Wednesday.
