NCAA Season 95 terminated due to COVID-19 pandemic

MANILA, Philippines—The NCAA has moved to terminate its 95th Season as organization deals with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement through president Peter Cayco of host school Arellano, the league said that the decision was met after the Policy Board members convened via teleconference.

“First and foremost that was considered was the safety of the athletes, students, fans, and officials,” the statement read. “Eligibility matters of athletes being raised shall be discussed later.”

The entire Luzon mainland has been put in “enhanced community quarantine” due to COVID-19 that has affected 202 people and killed 17 individuals.

There are seven patients, though, who have recovered.

Among the events that were completed in the Season 95 calendar were basketball, chess, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and demonstration sport 3×3 basketball.
