University of Santo Tomas star Mark Nonoy doesn’t really have a lot.

But he is still putting in some charity work while school and basketball have been shut down by the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Locked down in his hometown of La Carlota, Negros Occidental, Nonoy is helping out front-liners in his community by bringing food packs to checkpoints.

“I really want to help these people who are making such sacrifices just to make us safe,” said Nonoy who added that he and his family are perfectly safe.

The UAAP Season 82 men’s basketball Rookie of the Year, Nonoy prepared and distributed hundreds of packed meals to military and barangay personnel of Barangay 2 (Poblacion).

As a 20-year-old student, Nonoy willingly dug into his savings and used contributions from his family and friends to fund his outreach program.

Nonoy said that this is his own little sacrifice to help those who have put their lives and health on the line to make sure the greater population is protected from the virus.

“I thought to myself that I really don’t have any problem inside our house when it comes to food, so I decided to help our front-liners who are making sacrifices for us every day,” Nonoy said. INQ
