Broner focusing on rapping until he gets $10M fight offer

MANILA, Philippines—Adrien Broner hasn’t been in a boxing ring for more than a year now and it looks like he still has no plans of getting in between the ropes.
What he plans to do is get a mic and focus on being a rapper.
Broner, who was put in a blender by Manny Pacquiao in his last fight, said he’s hasn’t heard from Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza despite his constant communication with manager Al Haymon.
The former four-division world champion felt that he deserves a $10 million offer and he’d only get back to the sport if he’s given one.
“I haven’t heard from Stephen Espinoza. Me and [my manager] Al, we talk every day but ain’t nobody talking about that $10 million. So, I take that as I’m still retired. So what I’m going to do is just focus on my album, and I’m just a rapper,” said Broner.
“I’m a rapper now. S**t. Until they talk about my $10 million, I’m not going to be in the ring. So my album is dropping, and it is what it is.”
Broner, a well-known talker, has been ranting about that multi-million dollar offer for over a week now wherein he’s only willing to fight if Showtime gives him the contract.
“If I don’t get 10 million my next fight, I’m not fighting so @showtimeboxing and Al Haymon that’s where I’m at with this boxing s**t or I will just go do my own thing and start over. I will be a champion again,” wrote Broner on Instagram about a week ago.
His recent performances, however, say otherwise.
Broner (33-4-1) is 0-2-1 in his last three fights, which included a lopsided loss to then 40-year-old Pacquiao back in January 2019.
Pacquiao dominated Broner by unanimous decision, out-punching the then 29-year-old Broner 112-50.
Despite his lackadaisical performance, Broner managed to earn $2.5 million while Pacquiao took home $10 million and a larger percentage of the pay-per-view profits.
