MANILA, Philippines—Tyson Fury is no stranger when it comes to the WWE.

The WBC World heavyweight champion has made several appearances with the company and even competed against Braun Strowman (real life Adam Scherr) in the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia in October 2019.

Fury even made a challenge to reigning WWE Champion Drew McIntyre (real life Andrew Galloway IV) for the title.

These developments have drawn the interest of Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s executive vice president of global talent strategy and development, who now pegged a United Kingdom event that will feature Fury against McIntyre.

“When someone like Tyson Fury comes in, he brings a sport aspect to this, he brings a boxing world championship and a popularity in something totally different that helps eyeballs across the board,” said Levesque in an interview with PA news agency, h/t BoxingScene.com.

“We gave him a platform to be the entertainer that he was born to be, sometimes he has that in boxing but the platform at that level for the entertainment pieces isn’t as big. It is a win-win for both, Tyson is one of the most professional people I have ever worked with across the board – I spent a lot of time with him a few years ago and I would love to have him back.”

Levesque said that he can create the event as he has direct contact with Fury and vice versa.

“If you are able to make a super-fight, a mega-fight like a WWE champion Drew McIntyre, like a world champion in Tyson Fury in boxing, I think we sell out massive stadiums, do record global box office business and that is what is all about – so my phone is on.”

Levesque added that Fury is already at a position in his career where he can dictate what he wants to do with it.

Fury is tentatively scheduled to complete his trilogy with former WBC champion Deontay Wilder on Dec. 19.

“Tyson Fury is one of those fighters that sometimes now finds himself in a position where, does Anthony Joshua want to fight him? Does Deontay Wilder want the rematch? Because he has proven to be maybe next-level from everybody,” said Levesque.

Fury posted on his Instagram stories that he’s going to punch McIntyre in the face and take the WWE title from him.

“I’m not one of the normal bums you pick to fight. I’m not some punching bag getting paid to turn up and lose. Nice timing by the way, even with a fractured jaw I’m pretty confident I could do 12 rounds with your pillow fists. Nice try ‘King,’” posted McIntyre on Twitter.

Fury isn’t the first boxing champion to get involved with WWE with Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. all getting featured in Wrestlemania.
