PFL players lead fundraiser auction for Ulysses victims

MANILA, Philippines—Several players from the Philippines Football League did their part in helping the relief operations for the survivors of Typhoon Ulysses that battered Metro Manila and left Marikina and cities in Rizal submerged underwater.

Anthony Pinthus, Bienvenido Marañon, and skipper Stephan Schröck of champion Ceres FC put up their shirts and cleats for auction for the benefit of the typhoon survivors.

“Thank you to our PFL players for stepping up and helping out in their own way,” posted the PFL on its official Facebook account on Thursday with a reminder to their fans to keep visiting the page as some players will join the donation drive.

Maharlika Manila FC’s Anton del Rosario, Mendiola FC’s Hamed Hajimehdi, and Azkals Development Team’s Jarvey Gayoso also put their shirts up for auction.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Typhoon Ulysses displaced 19,982 families or 74,721 individuals and are now living in 825 evacuation centers while 1,558 families or 5,897 are served outside of designated facilities.

The PFL recently concluded its bubble league with United City FC clinching the title.
