Heat announce signing of veteran Avery Bradley

The Miami Heat officially announced the signing of free agent guard Avery Bradley on Monday.
The team did not release the financial details, but multiple reports put the numbers at two years and $11.6 million.
Article continues after this advertisementBradley played last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, who defeated Miami in six games in the 2020 NBA Finals.
“This is a great signing that can help us right away,” Heat president Pat Riley said in a release. “Being able to add a two-time All-NBA Defensive Team selection who is also a great shooter and fits perfectly with our current philosophy as a multi-positional player. Avery will be a great addition to fortifying our backcourt.”

Bradley, who turns 30 on Thursday, averaged 8.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 24.2 minutes in 49 games (44 starts) with the Lakers in 2019-20. He opted out of the NBA restart in the bubble near Orlando due to family reasons and did not participate in the Lakers’ postseason run.
The 10-year veteran has career averages of 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals in 571 games (493 starts) with the Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies and Lakers.
