Tabuena snaps 3-year spell, rules Eagle Ridge tilt

/ 05:10 AM March 13, 2021

Miguel Tabuena closed out with a four-under-par 68 on Friday to rule the P2 million ICTSI Eagle Ridge Challenge by two shots over Zannie Boy Gialon and claim a first victory in nearly three years.

Tabuena cracked par for the third straight days and finished with a 282 tally, as Gialon gave spirited chase, but fell short after a 70.

There were only three players who finished with sub-par cards, with third round leader Justin Quiban not one of them after the long-hitting young talent struggled to shoot a 75 to finish six shots off.

The veteran Richard Sinfuego matched par to finish third with a 287 total.

“We just stuck to our game plan and everything worked pretty well for me,” said Tabuena, after nailing the victory that was a long overdue followup to his Queen’s Cup triumph in the Asian Tour in 2018.

“We knew Justin was not going give up as well as Zanieboy. But I guess I have the experience, having played here a few times,” said Tabuena.

“I was pretty familiar with the conditions and it wasn’t the hardest because the greens were actually in good shape and it was pretty easy to read the putts.”
