ZIMBABWE’S Christopher Felgate and Morocco’s Mehdi Essadiq lead the elite racers vying for Olympic qualifying points in the K-Swiss ITU Subic Bay International Triathlon today.

Felgate and Essadiq, among the favored contenders vying to qualify in this year’s London Olympics, face a tough international cast from China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei.

The race kicks off at 6 a.m. with the 1,500m swim leg at the Dungaree Beach, before transitioning to the 40K bike at the Freeport zone and the 10K run, which winds up at Lincoln Street near Legenda.

Kim Mangrobang banners the Philippines’ campaign in the elite women’s side that also boasts a competitive field led by China’s Zhang Yi, Australia’s Grace Musgrove, Macau’s Hoi Long and Korea’s Jang Yun-jung.  Jasmine W. Payo
