TNT, Platinum off to 3-0 start in PBA 3×3

MANILA, Philippines—Platinum Karaoke and TNT had the best opening day of any team in the PBA 3×3 tournament as they came away with perfect 3-0 records to top the standings Saturday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Tropang Giga closed out the evening with a 21-18 win over the hapless Zamboanga Valientes with Samboy De Leon knocking down the long ball to seal the victory.

TNT opened their campaign with a dominant 21-9 win over the Limitless Appmasters and then followed it up with a close 20-16 victory over the Purefoods Titans.

Platinum, meanwhile, wrapped up its three-game schedule with a 21-14 win over the Titans wherein Yutien Andrada calmly converted from the free throw line to seal the game.

It was an eventful start for Platinum as it plastered the Valientes, 21-7, in its opening game then took down the Appmasters 21-16.

San Miguel and Meralco also ended the day on perfect records, albeit one less win than that of TNT and Platinum.

The Bolts, who didn’t play until Game 11, first took care of the Sista Super Sealers, 22-17, then stopped Terrafirma 21-16 for their second win.

The Beermen, who started their day at Game 12, sank NorthPort, 21-17, for their first win then held off the Cavitex Braves 21-17 for their second.

Purefoods ended its four-game schedule with a 2-2 record while Barangay Ginebra, Cavitex, the Batang Pier, and the Dyip all finished with 1-1 slates.

Limitless managed to snag just one win in its long schedule for a 1-3 record while Pioneer forfeited its games against Cavitex and NorthPort as the team still has to submit a medical clearance.

Sista also finished with a 0-2 record while the Valientes dropped all four of their matches.
