Ray Parks, Nagoya fail to make it three in a row after loss to Shimane

MANILA, Philippines—Nagoya and Bobby Ray Parks Jr. failed to extend their winning run, losing to Shimane, 94-86, in their second straight meeting in the 2021-22 Japan B.League season Sunday at Dolphins Arena in Aichi.

The Diamond Dolphins, who entered the game with two straight wins, slid to a 9-7 record while Susanoo Magic improved to 11-5 in the West Conference.

Shimane used a strong third quarter to build its momentum heading into the fourth.

Power forward Reid Travis knocked down a three-pointer to cap off Susanoo Magic’s 21-5 run for the 66-54 lead with 1:59 left in the penultimate period.

Travis finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals to lead Shimane while Perrin Bufrd added 21 points and seven boards.

Saito Takumi had 24 points to lead Nagoya while Parks added 13 points, three assists, and two steals.

Ibaraki, meanwhile, fell once more to Chiba, 111-103, in the East Conference at Funabashi Arena.

The Jets improved to 12-4 while the Robots are at a conference-worst 2-14.

John Mooney had 27 points and 12 rebounds for Chiba, which had six players score in double figures, while Togashi Yuki orchestrated the offense with 19 points and 12 assists.

Marc Trasolini led Ibaraki with 31 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 from deep.

Javi Gomez de Liaño had four points and one rebound for the Robots.
