Frustrated Junna Tsukii vows to come out stronger in 2022

MANILA, Philipines—Filipino-Japanese karateka Junna Tsukii isn’t settling for anything but the top.
Tsukii finished no.4 in the women’s kumite 50-kilogram division in the World Karate Federation, but she stressed her frustration with her ranking in the year and vowed that 2022 will see a better version of her.

“This is not a satisfactory result for me,” posted Tsukii on Facebook Thursday. “I feel a lot of frustration but it means that it will make me even stronger next year.”

Tsukii, nevertheless, had a strong 2021 taking a total of three gold medals and one silver.
The 30-year-old claimed gold in the Karate 1 Premier League, World Karate Federation Premier League, and the Golden Belt Karate, but had an early exit in the 2021 World Karate Federation Senior Championships.
She also collected the silver medal in the 2021 Asian Karate Championships just before Christmas.
