MANILA, Philippines—Filipino fighters Jeremy Miado and Robin Catalan were pulled from their respective fights in the ONE: Heavy Hitters card on Friday at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Miado and Catalan were eventually placed under ONE Championship’s COVID-19 Health and Safety protocols while their supposed opponents Senzo Ikeda and Elipitua Siregar are now set to face each other on Friday.

Ikeda were supposed to take on Miado while Siregar was set to square off against Catalan with both fights under the strawweight division.

“I believe this happened for a reason. Yes, it’s unfortunate that as an athlete, all of our efforts in training camp went to waste. But I believe God has His own plans,” said Miado (10-4) who’s coming off two straight knockout wins over Miao Li Tao.

Miado, who transferred to Marrok Force in Bangkok from Ronins MMA, was eyeing for a spot in the top five in the division but that would’ve to wait until it’s safe to return to the cage.

Catalan (10-7) was disappointed to be put under the promotion’s safety protocols but admitted that he has no choice but to go back to training and wait for another fight to come.

The 31-year-old from the Catalan Fighting System has had an up-and-down ride since 2018 going 2-3 in his last five fights.

“This is a sad news because I was really ready for this match and I was excited to head back to the ONE Circle and get the win. Unfortunately, we have to take this news and go back home, but we promise that once everything is ok, I’ll go back to train to be able to fight again,” said Catalan.
