Caelum Harris leads Gilas Pilipinas’ Fiba U-16 squad

MANILA, Philippines—Fil-American Caelum Harris leads the 12-man Gilas Pilipinas Youth team bound for the Fiba Under-16 Asian Championship from June 12-19 in Doha, Qatar.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced the roster Monday night.

The 6-foot-7 Harris is joined by team captains Jared Bahay and Lebron Nieto.

FEATURED STORIES

Jacob Bayla, Apl Mcandrei Gemao, Jayden Jones, Kristian Porter, Sebastian Reyes, Mikhail Romero, Zain Mahmood, Alexander Konov and Lorenzo Competente complete the cast.

The Philippines is in Group C with Japan and Kuwait. The top teams in all four pools make the quarterfinals while the second and third ranked teams will be pitted against each other in a crossover knockout to complete the quarters.

Josh Reyes will call the shots for the Philippines, which aims to qualify for the Fiba U17 World Cup slated in July in Malaga, Spain.

Joseph Pangilinan, Elijah Yusi, and Francis Veejay Pre are also part of the team as reserves.

Gilas Youth leaves for Doha on Tuesday night.
