B.League: Dwight Ramos, Levanga fall to San-En; Kiefer Ravena keys Shiga win
MANILA, Philippines—Dwight Ramos’ heroics weren’t enough as Levanga Hokkaido fell to Thirdy Ravena’s San-En Neophoenix, 76-57, in the 2022 Japan B. League Division 1 at Toyohashi City Gymnasium on Saturday.
Ramos scored 15 points, five steals and five rebounds in a losing effort for Levanga while Thirdy Ravena finished had five points, sinking only two of his five attempts, in the Neophoenix’s victory.
Article continues after this advertisementKosuke Kanamaru led San-En with 17 points while Yante Maten got 15 points and nine rebounds. Isaiah Hicks chipped in 13 points.
Ray Parks’ Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, meanwhile, buried the Ryukyu Golden Kings, 94-72, at Dolphins Arena.
Takumi Saito powered the Dolphins with 23 markers, six assists and three boards while Ray Parks Jr. contributed a hefty 11 points off the bench.
Article continues after this advertisementJosh Duncan was the high-point man for Ryukyu with 18 points and eight boards. Jay Washington was held scoreless with only two minutes of play.
Shiga Lakes also edged out Niigata Albirex BB at Ukaruchan Arena, 96-88, in overtime.
Kiefer Ravena scored 10 points and eight assists, including two important passes in overtime to Yusei Sugiura and Teppei Kashiwagura in the dying seconds of the game.
Kai Toews led Shiga with 25 markers, seven boards and six dimes.
Nagoya Flying Eagles defeated Kyoto Hannaryz, 78-66, at Kyoto City Gymnasium with Matthew Wright not seeing any action for Kyoto.
Justine Baltazar had the same situation, going minute-less and watching his team, Hiroshima Dragonflies, beat the Kawasaki Brave Thunders, 72-71, at Kawasaki Todoroki Arena.
Eugene Phelps of Ehime tallied a double-double en route to the team’s win with 23 markers and 11 boards.
In B2 action, Ehime Orange Vikings zoomed past Greg Slaughter’s Rising Zephyr Fukuoka, 80-76, at Teriha Sekisui House Arena.
Marvelle Harris’s outstanding 30-point game was not enough to power Fukuoka to the win. Jordan Glynn also chipped in 22 markers while Slaughter finished with four points and two rebounds in 14 minutes of play in the setback.
Nagasaki Velca outlasted Kagawa Five Arrows, 90-81, in overtime at Nagasaki Prefectural Gym.
Matt Bonds fueled Nagasaki with 20 points while Jordan Heading contributed nine markers in 30 minutes of play.
Takayuki Kodak also scored 20 in a losing effort for Kagawa. Roosevelt Adams was not included in the Five Arrows’ lineup.
Altiri Chiba succumbed to Yamagata Wyverns at Yamagata Prefectural Sports Park, 89-86.
Kobe Paras was not fielded while Brandon Ashley led Chiba with 26 markers and 10 boards on a losing effort.
James Bell and Javier Carter had 20 to their names for Yamagata.
