Disappointing weekend dooms Woods in Open
SAN FRANCISCO – For two rounds, Tiger Woods seemed to be in command in the U.S. Open. Then came a weekend of frustration that ran his winless streak in major championships to four years.
Woods threw away his last chance at winning the Open on Sunday with a bogey-bogey-double bogey start that took away any chance of him mounting a charge up the leaderboard at Olympic Club.
Article continues after this advertisementWoods made some birdies coming in, but by then it was too late. He finished with a 3-over 73 that left him at 7-over par for the tournament.
For Woods, it was an opportunity that got away. He had a share of the lead going into the weekend before shooting a 75 in the third round.
