NCAA: Lyceum, Perpetual Help post contrasting wins in women’s volleyball
MANILA, Philippines—Lyceum and Perpetual Help posted wins in the NCAA Season 98 women’s volleyball tournament at San Andres Complex on Sunday.
The Lady Pirates swept the Lady Red Lions, 25-20, 25-16, 28-26, behind Janeth Tulang.
Article continues after this advertisementTulang scored 14 to power the Lady Pirates to their fifth win in seven outings. Joan Doguna added 13 for Lyceum.
Marianne Louise Tayag was the sole double-digit scorer for San Beda (1-6) with 10.
The Lady Altas, meanwhile, needed four tough sets to outlast Letran, 25-23, 25-21, 30-32, 25-19.
Article continues after this advertisementShaila Omipon led all scorers with 24 points while Mary Rhose Dapol scored 20 to power Perpetual Help to a 6-1 card.
Judiel Nitura’s 16-marker outburst was not enough to give the Lady Knights the victory while Lea Rizel Tapang also tallied 12 as Letran dropped to a 4-3 record.
Over at men’s action, the Altas handled the Knights, 25-17, 25-16, 25-19, to stay undefeated after seven games.
JC Enarciso shone with 22 excellent sets and two markers for the unscathed Altas.
Letran, erstwhile, dropped to 3-4 in the ladder.
The Red Lions, meanwhile, also swept the Pirates, 25-13, 25-21, 25-12, behind Jerome Lopez’s floor management.
Lopez only finished with a point but tallied 17 excellent sets to give San Beda a 4-3 standing.
Lyceum, on the other hand, remained winless after seven outings.
