MANILA, Philippines—Adamson coach Jerry Yee was pleased to give the school its best first-round finish in 13 years but he wants the Lady Falcons to show better composure in the second round of the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament.

The Lady Falcons tied their Season 73 start in 2010 when coach Dulce Pante was still calling the shots for Angela Benting, Pau Soriano, Bang Pineda, and Mayette Zapanta.

In Yee’s first season, Adamson won five of its first seven games only losing to top two teams La Salle and defending champion National University in a game that went the distance.

“Our spikers’ hitting percentage was high because we have a good first ball. Our games against NU and La Salle were a good test for us,” said Yee in Filipino after their 25-18, 25-17, 25-23 victory over University of the Philippines on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena. “So far we still have a lot of things to apply and execute coming to the second round on March 25.

“We could have done better in those tight games. We faltered against La Salle. Hopefully, we will be able to apply that would work for the team,” he added.

Kate Santiago, who led their bounce-back win with 16 points including three blocks, said they reflected and looked back at the things they could’ve done better after their four-set loss to La Salle last Sunday.

“We rested and thought about why that happened to us. We were determined to bounce back and we were ready to fight today. That’s why we won,” Santiago said.

Yee said they will review the clips of their previous games to make the necessary changes coming to the second round as they will try to sustain their good start in hopes of returning to the Final Four.

“Hopefully, we can sustain it and even win more games,” he said.
