MANILA, Philippines—Adamson overcame fatigue and a listless start in downing University of Santo Tomas, 11-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-22, on Saturday in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament at the Philsports Arena.

Trisha Tubu scored 21 points built around 15 attacks capped by the game-clinching kill as the Lady Falcons notched their second consecutive triumph, Adamson’s sixth overall against two setbacks at the start of their second-round campaign.

Lucille Almonte had nine points and 13 digs, Kate Santiago also added nine, most of them in the pivotal third where the Lady Falcons forged ahead.

“We felt heavy and tired, but I told the team not to rest until the game is done, said team captain Louie Romero, who orchestrated Adamson’s offense with 19 excellent sets.

After splitting the first two sets, the Lady Falcons surged in the third with Santiago and Tubu driving solid incursions without mercy.

The Tigresses seemed headed for redemption in the fourth as Eya Laure and Renee Penafiel put them ahead, 16-13, but Tubu again struck hard, her lightning-quick power shot leveling the count at 18.

Following a brief exchange of firepower, Regina Jurado’s strike came too low before Tubu fired another that went through Athena Abbu’s outstretched arms for the clincher.

“We’re already in the second round and fatigue has set in. Good thing, the team responded and we were able to get the win,’’ said Adamson coach Jerry Yee.

Laure came out with 17 points on top of five aces, 11 digs and 12 receptions while Imee Hernandez chipped in 14 points, two blocks and a pair of aces for the Tigresses, who fell to 5-3 after seeing their three-game win snap.
