PBA: Rain or Shine also penalizes Rey Nambatac for playing in unsanctioned game

MANILA, Philippines-Rey Nambatac became the second player to be fined by Rain or Shine for playing in an unsanctioned game described in local terms as “Ligang Labas” without the team’s permission.

The Elasto Painters said on Wednesday that Nambatac will lose “two days worth of salary” for “breaching his PBA Uniform Players’ Contract by participating in an exhibition game.”

Rain or Shine’s sanction came after Beau Belga was fined for taking part in a series of exhibitions, including the infamous brawl against a team of foreign players in Carmen, Cebu.

Belga was fined a salary worth 15 days after also playing in Davao and Laguna without the team’s blessing.

He along with NLEX’s JR Quinahan, who traded punches with a player from the opposing team during the said melee, Magnolia’s Jio Jalalon and NorthPort’s Robert Bolick are scheduled to be summoned by PBA commissioner Willie Marcial next week.

All players face hefty sanctions from the league.

PBA rules prohibit players from taking part in exhibition games, unless they were given permission by their mother teams.
