ONE: Danny Kingad aims to climb flyweight ladder with upcoming bout vs Hu Yong
MANILA, Philippines—Danny Kingad’s road to the ONE Flyweight title chase continues next month.
Currently ranked as the third best flyweight contender in the MMA promotion, Kingad has a chance to jump up the ladder and get a title shot when he faces China’s Hu Yong.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Team Lakay mainstay, however, knows climbing up the rungs will not be a walk in the park as he trains to face one of the division’s top talents.
“I know Hu Yong is a very skilled and dangerous fighter, so I’m doing everything to prepare for him and what he plans to do,” he said. “I’m confident in my skills, and I’d love to test myself against him.”
Both fighters are riding on momentum after winning their previous matches.
Article continues after this advertisementOne of Hu’s most recent wins even came at the expense of Kingad’s fellow Filipino Geje Eustaquio at ONE 164: Pacio vs. Brooks in December last year.
“The King,” on the other hand, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Eko Roni Saputra at ONE Fight Night 7: Lineker vs. Andrade II last February.
Either way, the winner of the flyweight bout will inch closer to division king Demetrious Johnson for the world strap.
Hu and Kingad clash at ONE Fight Night 15: Tawanchai vs. Superbon next month at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
