Carl Jammes Martin reinforced his belief of making it big in world professional boxing after a sixth-round stoppage of Thai veteran Chaiwat Buatkrathok recently.
Although impressive with an undefeated record of 23 victories, highlighted by 18 knockouts, Martin has so much to prove on a larger stage with a rare opportunity now knocking on his door.

‘Next big thing’
First on their checklist for the Filipino slugger is a US trip early next year where Martin could be provided with greater opportunity to fight the best 122-pounder or figure in a potential world title shot in 2024.
“He’s going to be the next big thing in professional boxing. He’s a world champion material,’’ said Gibbons.
As the latest addition to the MP Promotions’ pool under former senator and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, Martin will be joining super bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales, who is fighting on Tuesday, Jerwin Ancajas, Eumir Felix Marcial and Mark Magsayo, among others.
MP Promotions has partnered with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and TGB Promotions in carving a path toward greatness for Martin.
“I’m honored to be stablemates with the best fighters in the world,’’ said Martin.
Aside from Filipino fighters, Al Haymon’s PBC and TGB have Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo’’ Alvarez and Isaac “Pitbull’’ Cruz among its brightest stars along with a number of current world champions.
