MANILA, Philippines—Tying a series against a stacked San Miguel team might be something to smile about for some other coaches but coach Chito Victolero is not like other coaches.
After their statement 96-85 win in Game 4 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals over San Miguel to tie the series at 2-2, Victolero said there was “nothing to celebrate about,” and said they are still the “underdogs” of the series despite two straight wins.

PBA Finals: CJ Perez laments San Miguel’s offensive woes in Game 4 loss
MANILA, Philippines–Despite winning the 2024 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference award, CJ Perez wasn’t all smiles as he exited the Araneta Coliseum on Friday.
He may have gone home with the individual accolade but the Game 4 win went Magnolia’s way as the best-of-seven series reached a deadlock at 2-2.

MANILA, Philippines—Just like that, Magnolia is back in the game and the Hotshots have Tyler Bey’s dedication on defense largely to thank for that.
After their 96-85 victory over the Beermen in Game 4 that tied the PBA Commissioner’s Finals to 2-2, Magnolia coach Chito Victolero revealed that Bey personally asked to defend Boatwright in the past two games, which resulted in two crucial wins for the squad.

MANILA, Philippines–Import Tyler Bey played spectacularly on both ends all of Friday night as Magnolia nipped San Miguel, 96-85, leveling the PBA Commissioner’s Cup championship series to two games apiece.
Bey, who was visibly stunned after losing in the race for the Best Import award, delivered 26 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals to help the Hotshots annex a second win after dropping the first two meetings of their best-of-seven finale with the Beermen.

CJ Perez named PBA Best Player, Johnathan Williams Best Import
MANILA, Philippines–San Miguel Beermen’s CJ Perez and Phoenix Fuel Masters’ Johnathan Williams III were crowned the finest players of the 2024 PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Friday night.
Perez, the San Miguel standout was named as Best Player of the Conference while the American forward the Arena Plus Best Import ahead of Game 4 of the San Miguel-Magnolia championship series at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

Terrence Romeo to miss remainder of PBA Finals due to ankle injury
MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel will be missing the services of one of its key cogs for the remainder of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals due to injury.
Terrence Romeo was seen wearing a left ankle cast on Friday at Araneta Coliseum prior to Game 4 of the Finals after “re-spraining” his left ankle in Game 2, making him doubtful to return at any point in the series even if it goes full distance.

PBA Finals: Magnolia looks to its defense as it seeks equalizer
Personal statistics do not matter at this point for Tyler Bey.
He just wants to play a key role as Magnolia looks to get back on level terms with San Miguel Beer in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
“I just want to win, man. I don’t really care about nothing else,” Bey said as the Hotshots go for a second straight win over the vaunted Beermen side Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum in the pivotal fourth game set 7:30 p.m.
PBA Finals: Boatwright takes heart even after first defeat
Losing for the first time as a PBA import has not dampened the spirits of Bennie Boatwright, who vowed to help San Miguel Beer deliver a bounce-back in Game 4 and put a stranglehold on the Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
“You gonna lose, and it’s part of life. You win some, you lose some,” Boatwright said after the Beermen’s 88-80 loss two nights prior at Smart Araneta Coliseum allowed the Magnolia Hotshots to reduce their deficit to 2-1 in the championship series.
PBA Finals: San Miguel knows closing out Magnolia won’t ‘come easily’
MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel gave credit where credit is due.
Beermen Marcio Lassiter and CJ Perez acknowledged that the series with Magnolia was never going to be easy despite holding a 2-0 advantage before their Game 3 loss at Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.
“We know it’s a long series. Everyone would have loved a sweep but this is a great team so we have to come out and be prepared for Game 4,” said Lassiter after their 88-80 loss to the Hotshots.
Victolero lauds Abueva for handling ‘distractions’ properly as Magnolia wins Game 3
Coach Chito Victolero insists that Magnolia wasn’t too distracted by the controversy surrounding the incidents involving Calvin Abueva in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
“We took away all of the distractions and the players did a good job on the mental aspect preparing for this game,” said Victolero.
