Huey, Brit partner upset second seeds

/ 02:39 AM August 04, 2012

TREAT Huey paired with Dominic Inglot of Great Britain to pull off a stunning upset over second seeds Robert Farah of Colombia and Aisam Qureshi of Pakistan, 6-2, 6-2, Thursday and progress to the men’s doubles semifinals of the Citi Open tennis championships in Washington D.C.

Ranked 47th in the world and the Philippines’ main weapon in Davis Cup competitions, Huey worked seamlessly with fellow University of Virginia alumni Inglot in fashioning out the surprisingly easy victory.

Together they whipped out four aces against only one by Farah and Qureshi, who is his country’s top player but missed the chance of playing here last April in the Davis Cup.

They will next face American wildcards Drew Courtney and Steve Johnson.  The champions will get $74,620, runners up $33,670 and semifinalists $15,880.  Marc Anthony Reyes
