EJ Obiena finishes seventh in Stockholm
MANILA, Philippines—EJ Obiena’s roller-coaster season continues.
After coming off a seventh-place finish last week in the Ostrava Golden Spike and bouncing back with a silver medal finish in the Oslo Bislett Games soon after, Obiena absorbed another lowly finish in the BAUHAUS-galan in Stockholm, Sweden on Monday, Manila time.
Article continues after this advertisementJust days after his second-place run, Obiena missed the podium in the Sweden leg of the Diamond League finishing in seventh place.

Obiena took to Instagram to express his dismay over his most recent performance, having to borrow poles once again.
Article continues after this advertisement“Not my day today. 5.70m here in the wonderful @bauhausgalan. Thank you for the boys for lending me some sticks to jump on. Greatly appreciate it gentleman,” wrote the 2020 Tokyo Olympian.
“Thank you @bauhausgalan for having me. Hope to be back here again and jump a little bit higher.”

He finished with a 5.70m jump to finish as the second-worst jumper out of the eight-man competition.
His occasional rival Armando Duplantis rose above the competition with 6.00m for the gold medal on his home turf.
Rounding out the podium are USA bets Sam Kendricks and KC Lightfoot, who finished with 5.90m (silver) and 5.80m (bronze), respectively.
Obiena will continue his preparation as he moves just a month away from representing the country in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
