The heavy rains that pounded Metro Manila for the past days forced the country’s two premier varsity leagues to cancel their games anew.

NCAA officials said Wednesday that the last two playdates of the first round of seniors basketball—including the double-header scheduled today—will be moved to a later time.

“Due to the recent weather condition brought about by the monsoon rains and in consideration of the recovery situation in flooded areas, and while other NCAA-member schools are being used as evacuation sites, the management committee has decided [that the games] be postponed,” Mancom chair Fr. Vic Calvo said in a statement.

The UAAP, which already called off its men’s basketball games last Wednesday, also postponed its games set this Saturday at Philsports Arena.

“In consideration of the recovery situation in flood-stricken areas, and the use of most government facilities as evacuation centers, the UAAP will be postponing the games… until we are able to confirm venues,” the league said in a statement.
