2 PH clubs book AFC berths
Kaya-Iloilo’s men’s and women’s teams and Dynamic Herb Cebu will represent the Philippines in club competitions the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) are set to hold later in the year.
After going unbeaten on its way to capturing the Philippines Football League for the second straight season, Kaya is set to participate in the AFC Champions League 2 that is set to start in September.
Article continues after this advertisementCebu will join Kaya in the newly established competition after placing second in the PFL season. The Gentle Giants got in since the other slot given to the champion of the 2023 Copa Paulino Alcantara was also won by Kaya.
Kaya and Cebu, which held off Stallion-Laguna for the other ACL 2 slot, will start play in September with the draw set next month.
The Champions League 2 was launched after the AFC decided to revise the format of its club competitions beginning with the 2024-2025 season, with the Champions League Elite as the top-tier and the Challenge League being a third-tier competition.

Meanwhile, Kaya was recently drawn in Group B of the newly formed Women’s Champions League which will see some of the top women’s football clubs from the region. INQ
