PBA: Scotty Hopson provides much needed leadership for Converge
MANILA, Philippines—Converge import Scotty Hopson provided an important element in Converge’s first game in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Wednesday.
With the FiberXers being a relatively young team, Hopson provided leadership on the court that propelled the revamped Converge squad to a 127-95 win over Terrafirma at Araneta Coliseum.
Article continues after this advertisement“I’ve played basketball in a lot of different places and at a high level. I’ve been fortunate enough to be around some really great guys who kind of taught me how to be a leader. Every good leader has to be a follower at some point,” said Hopson.

“I’m just taking what I’ve learned from those guys and implementing it in our team.”
Hopson was red-hot on all cylinders for the FiberXers as he finished with a stellar stat line of 46 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Article continues after this advertisementThe former Oklahoma City Thunder swingman was also efficient from the field, missing just six of his 24 shots for a blistering 75 percent clip. He also went perfect from the four-point line in three attempts.

Hopson’s leadership also helped some FiberXers shine in the victory with the likes of Alec Stockton, Schonny Winston and Justin Arana also contributing on the offensive end.
Stockton tallied 21 points while Winson and Arana combined for 27 points.
“We got good players, we play hard and I like the guys in our locker room. I’ll fight with them any day,” said Hopson.
Hopson and the FiberXers look to go back-to-back when they take on Magnolia on Friday.
