B.League: Koshigaya’s Kai Sotto, Nagasaki’s AJ Edu shine

MANILA, Philippines—AJ Edu showed what he’s made of in Nagasaki Velca’s most recent win in the Japanese B.League’s 2024-25 season.
Edu came up big on both ends of the floor to help Nagasaki defeat Levanga Hokkaido, 79-70, at Yotsuba Arena Tokachi on Sunday.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Gilas Pilipinas center posted a near double-double of 18 points and nine rebounds that went with three assists, two blocks and a steal to fuel Nagasaki to a 3-1 card.

Dwight Ramos, the Filipino import for Levanga, did not suit up in the Hokkaido loss.
Another Filipino big man in Kai Sotto had a solid outing but unlike Edu, Sotto’s Koshigaya Alphas fell to the Ryukyu Golden Kings, 87-59, at Koshigaya City Gymnasium.
Article continues after this advertisementSotto notched 16 points and 14 rebounds for his second straight double-double after posting 18 points and 15 rebounds in their previous game. But despite his efforts, the Alphas remained winless after four games.
Vic Law powered the Golden Kings to the dub with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Ray Parks’ Osaka Evessa, on the other hand, reigned victorious over FE Nagoya, 70-56, at Ookini Arena Maishima.
Parks tallied seven points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in the blowout.

However, it was Matt Bonds who led Evessa with 20 points and eight rebounds to push the squad to a 4-0 record.
Roosevelt Adams and the Yamagata Wyverns made easy work of the Fukushima Firebonds, 86-70, at Azuma Gymnasium.
Adams registered eight points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals to help the Wyverns improve to a 3-1 card.
Matthew Wright also lost as the Kawasaki Brave Thunders succumbed to the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, 94-87, at Dolphins Arena.
The former Phoenix Fuel Masters sniper had 10 points, four assists and two steals for the Brave Thunders, who dropped to 1-3.
