St. Clare rips AMA, keeps slate clean
St. Clare drew firepower from point guard Jeff Viernes and slotman Jammer Jamito to crush AMA Computer, 100-69, yesterday and remain unbeaten in the National Athletics Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities men’s basketball at CP Tinga gym in Taguig.
The 5-foot-11 Viernes had 24 points for the Saints, while the 6-foot-4 Jamito, a prized find from Camarines Norte, fired 14 points on top of 11 rebounds for their 8th straight victory in as many games.
Denis Santos added 13, Philip Torres 12 and Eugene Torres 11 for the Saints, who catapulted from just another campaigner in the league to a serious title contender this year.
